Deux: a BTS with Antonio.

Once in a while, there’s an opportunity for me to model. Outside medicine, modeling on the side is, honestly, something I find SO fun. It’s simply a creative hobby I enjoy doing just for the thrill of it. Being able to create stunning photos through bodily movements and facial expressions is an art. Last year, I had the chance to model for Antonio Hairdressing Congressional and this year, it was an honor to do it the second time around. I'm incredibly grateful for landing the modeling job once again and it has been, by far, the most memorable and most fun photoshoot I've had to date!

This was our makeup situation last Tuesday. Isn't it a beautful mess? They have really nice products. They have Urban Decay, MAC Cosmetics, Laura Mercier, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Inglot Cosmetics, NYX, Sephora, etc... basically a little bit of everything!

This is Ms. Russel, my makeup artist for the shoot. She did a fabulous job. She made sure my brows were on fleek and contour is on point!

Test shots were being taken here to get that perfect lighting. On the other hand, I was thinking of the possible poses I'd be executing for the photos. I'll admit though, I was a bit jittery here. The team was big and I felt a little shy being watched by everyone. It was all good in the end, though. Everyone was supportive and nice. After the first few shots, my anxiety eased away and we were productively shooting photos.

This is me getting instructions from the photographer, Tito Maloy, whilst Ms. Russel fixes my hair for the next set of shots. I was also taking instructions from Tita Jing and Patricia, the wife and the daughter of Tito Maloy. They served as the creative directors of the photoshoot. It was so lovely working with them! Isn't it a wonderful idea to be sharing a common passion with the entire family? Photography has been their craft ever since and the photoshoot was a creative effort of the ever so talented Ardieta family.

Here's a better view of the makeup look. I've always been a nude-lip kind of girl, but after seeing myself with a bold red lip, I think I've been converted! I definitely see myself wearing more reds in the future.

We were taking close up shots to emphasize the hair and makeup I had on. Shots for hair photography are absolutely so fun to do. I did the craziest of hair flips just so we could get the perfect hair shot!

Forgive the seemingly narcissist photos! I just really love the makeup I had on! In between shooting, I would go to the bathroom to take sneaky mirror selfies just to document the makeup! (Even tweeted about it) I loved the makeup so much that even after the photoshoot, when I got home already, I was still wearing the makeup around! Lol. It felt such a waste to remove it so soon! I literally wore it for a few more hours before saying goodbye with a makeup wipe. To my fellow makeup girls out there, I'm not the only one who does this, right?

This is Ms. Jemm. Not only did she style my hair for the shoot, but she was actually also my hair stylist in the pageant where I won Miss Medicine 2015. That night, she styled my hair four times in four different looks. Ms. Jemm was most helpful and supportive during the pageant, both during the fiasco happening backstage and during performances on-stage. I was so thankful for her that night!

From this post alone, I think it's highly obvious I had a wonderful time at the photoshoot. It's been great!
Thank you so much, Antonio Hairdressing Congressional for having me again!

BB Asia Launch + Workshop.

Throwback to a month ago, I was invited by Clozette to the Blogger Babes Asia Manila launch + workshop! It was held at Vyne Tapas Bar & Restaurant in Bonifacio Global City. What a memorable first it was! Let me tell you why:

It was the first time that I ever felt like a legit working girl! Lol. Although already a college graduate, I've never been formally employed as I'm currently a postgrad student of medicine. I've never had any experience with work other than tasks involving my blog. This event, in fact, served as my first ever blogger event! It was a first for me to attend an event with my fellow bloggers and social media influencers. From bearing the horrific traffic to walking all over BGC IN HEELS just to look for the place, from coming out of my shell to meeting new people in the industry, from learning the basics to retracing the progress of my own blog, it was definitely a day to remember.

Meeting new people in the industry was most overwhelming for me! I was shy and awkward as heck! And I can only hope I wasn't embarrrassing (which I doubt)... but it was an experience. It's nice to finally meet the actual persons behind the successful accounts of stunning photos with incredible content and K-worth of followers (or even more). It's also most impressive to learn from v/blogger legends such as Vern and Verniece Enciso, Cristina and Dana Decena and THE Heidi Nazarudin, founder of Blogger Babes.

(They were all so fab by the way I can't even!)

Learning from such high-caliber content creators, I was humbled by event. It only goes to show how I have much to learn in creating posts and growing this blog. Blogging isn't merely being a popular icon or taking great photos, captioning them and posting them online. No, it takes much more sweat and production than just merely posting away. There's a reason why I never post anything half-assed! It's about the art, the story, the community, and most significantly, the influence you offer your readers.

More than anything, I'm willing to learn and to keep improving this blog. My gratitude goes to Clozette for helping me expand my knowledge in the industry. Thank you so much & it was lovely finally meeting you! ♡ Thank you Ms. Lystra & Ms. Jara!

Let's remember that while ambition is a wonderful, wonderful thing --- remembering to be kind, generous, and gracious is equally important. No one ever got to the top without some help from others, and isn't success meaningless without friends and family you can count on sharing the journey? So let's conquer the world, but in style.

VaselinePH #SeizeTheSummer

Posted by Aura Charisse on March 13, 2015 at 9:25 AM Comments comments (0)

Summer’s really just around the corner. I’m so stoked to head to the beach and bask in the sun! It’s super fun to spend time in the beach with your bestfriends. Sunlight beams and saltwater winds call for great company! When it comes to enjoying lovely summer days, I can always count on my girls, Victoria and Rhona. They’re my absolute beach sisters! We call ourselves #TeamSunkissed!

We are #TeamSunkissed

One problem I have though is sensitive skin. My skin has always been sensitive. To cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize and apply sunscreen are absolute musts! A daily dose of SPF is especially crucial as sunscreen saves my skin from darkening and premature aging. Now that summer’s near (when the sun rays are even less forgiving!) my skin’s more vulnerable.

This summer, Vaseline came to my rescue. I can make the most of my summer days with Vaseline’s Healthy White Serum! It’s a water-based serum which gives you ultimate protection from the sun. It offers three modes of fairness: SPF 30 providing up to 96% protection, PA+++ to protect against UVA rays, and Vitamin B3, an effective skin lightening ingredient. What I love about Vaseline’s Healthy White Serum is that it’s very light-weight and fast-absorbing. No greasy, sticky feeling on the skin. An effective formula that lets me enjoy the sun with protection and maintain my fair skin!

Want to try the product for free? No problem! You can have your own Healthy White Serum by joining VaselinePH’s #SeizeTheSummer promo! All you have to do is post your beach perfect photo on Instagram, Twitter or both with the caption:

"With @vaselineph's water-based serum, I will #SeizeTheSummer by ... " + the hashtag #TeamSunkissed

Winners are picked daily + you get a chance to win a FREE TRIP TO BALI, INDONESIA with me and my girls! The more frequent you post, the higher the chance of winning. Don’t forget to tag VaselinePH and use the hashtags #SeizeTheSummer & #TeamSunkissed. Profiles must be made viewable to the public for Vaseline to check!

Click photo for more details!

Would you really pass on a free trip to Bali? I don’t think so! Start posting those summer photos now! ;)  Promo runs until the 25th of March 2015!! Good luck!! :)

Firsts with Antonio.

Today I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to model for a salon, Antonio Hairdressing. This is my first ever legit photo shoot for an establishment and what a humbling experience it was! The shoot was amazing. I was very well taken care of by a talented makeup artist and a skilled hair stylist. Perfect shots were crafted by a precise creative director and an all-out gifted photographer.

We had two themes for the shoot: natural and glammed up. The first chunk of the time was for shooting a natural look, with neutral makeup and polished hair. Next shots were for a more glamorous look with a bold red lip, dark smokey eyes and big wavy curls. Props to the glam team for their impressive skills!

Best part of the shoot was the overall mood. It was very light and fun, at the same time being very professional and specific. It was more of an exciting experience rather than work. That’s the perk in finding enjoyment in your tasks!

Here are some of the photos from today’s shoot:

This is definitely the highlight of my week! Life gets even more delightful when you’re given the chance to do what you love!

Hair looking a little too dull? Head out to the newest branch of Antonio Hairdressing at Congressional Ave. Ext.! You can find their Facebook page for more details! :)
